California: Calistoga Hot Springs

Massachussetts: Sand Springs Pool and Recreation Center
Sand Springs is one of the only thermal springs in New England. Sand Springs is the site of one of the oldest spas in North America.
Sand Springs Pool & Recreational Center is an outdoor community pool in Williamstown. Upon arrival, visitors will find a small swimming pool and a hot tub that receive water from underground natural springs.
While the single, shared pool can be crowded, the recreational center offers additional amenities like a lap pool and a splash pad.
For many years it has been a hot spot for the artists from the Williamstown Theatre Festival and locals alike. It now operates as a non-profit recreational center, aiming to preserve its historic character and charm.
Montana: Bozeman Hot Springs
There are a number of family friendly hot springs in Montana, especially if you are visiting Yellowstone.
Bozeman Hot Springs is a family-friendly destination known for its lively atmosphere and multiple pools. The spring water feeds a variety of soaking options, from a family pool to a more secluded adult pool. We went here during our trip to Yellowstone. It’s very family friendly with both indoor and outdoor pools, lots of places to sit, and no rules on outside foods.
Bozeman Hot Springs is located along Highway 191, along the route to Big Sky Resort. The indoor space also includes a steam room and a dry sauna, perfect for post-soak unwinding. The outdoor pools are a more recent addition, boasting appealing rock fixtures and in-pool lighting, and frequently serve as a venue for public events, including musical performances every Thursday and Sunday, and annual holiday-themed gatherings.
Nevada: Carson Hot Springs
One of the most accessible hot springs in Nevada is Carson Hot Springs Resort. Carson hot springs is another resort style spa, used by folks during the gold rush. Pool capacity will be limited to 50 people in the outdoor pool and patio area, with a 2-hour time limit per visit.
Nine private pools have pool temperatures from 100-104 degrees and vary according to the natural flow of the spring. The hot springs naturally flow out of the ground from 35,000 feet below the Earth’s surface and are loaded with all the good minerals, including sodium, sulfate, chloride, silica, potassium, calcium, fluoride, magnesium, and lithium.
Carson City, Nevada boasts an array of outdoor adventures, fine restaurants, challenging golf courses, historical attractions, museums, gaming opportunities, and a plethora of events and entertainment.
New York: Saratoga Spa State Park
Saratoga Spa State Park is a historic spa destination renowned for its naturally carbonated mineral springs. Several bathhouses offer soaking experiences, from the historic Roosevelt Baths to the more modern Saratoga National. While public bathhouses can be busy, the park's vibrant atmosphere and diverse amenities make it a popular choice.
Swimming is available for the entire family at the two pools in the park: there's the Peerless Pool complex, which includes a large main pool as well as separate smaller pools, or you can take a dip in the Victoria Pool. The Peerless Pool (below) is free, but there is a fee to access the Victoria Pool.
Located within Saratoga Spa State Park, The Gideon Putnam Resort offers a luxurious hot spring experience. Guests can choose from private soaking tubs with mineral water piped directly from the natural springs or indulge in traditional bathhouse treatments.
The Park includes Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Spa Little Theater, the National Museum of Dance, the Saratoga Automobile Museum, the Gideon Putnam Resort and Roosevelt Baths and Spa (below).
Oregon: Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs
Kah-Nee-Ta hot springs recently opened in 2024 after being closed since 2018. The family-friendly hot springs resort has large outdoor natural hot springs soaking pools where temperatures will vary from 92 to 104 degrees, have fun in the Lazy River pools, or let the little ones play in the zero-depth entry pool.
The Warm Springs River Float is a popular activity that is offered during the summer months. This 3-mile branch is by far the premier tubing stretch on the Warm Springs River, including a few Class I rapids and several sections of riffles along the way.
Oregon: Paulina Lake Hot Springs
If you are up for a short hike, these hot springs are great for families visiting Oregon.
During the summer, these undeveloped hot springs, tucked into the Newberry Caldera, part of Newberry National Volcanic Monument, are most accessible. This volcanic wonder is roughly 25 miles south of Bend and offers a hidden gem for adventurous souls and families seeking a soak in nature’s hot tub.
During summer, they're only a short obsidian-lined hike or lake paddle away. Be advised that the only restroom is at the trailhead, so plan accordingly.
A Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass will grant you access to the day use area. Day passes are $5, and annual passes are $30.
South Dakota: Evans Plunge Mineral Springs
One family friendly hot springs in South Dakota is Evans Plunge. The water at Evans Plunge and in Hot Springs is 87 degrees fahrenheit year-round, which means it is slightly cooler than body temperature but also quite warmer than other pools. Also, the water is warmest on the north end of the pool, near where the largest spring bubbles up.
There also is a jet slide, a whale slide, two kids’ pools, a frog slide, two hot tubs, a sauna and a steam room, plus concessions and a gift shop.
You will need a swimsuit and a towel. If you do not have a towel, they rent fresh laundered towels for $2.00 each.
Texas: WorldSprings
Texas is blessed with beautiful clean cold springs and hot springs so you can go in any season.
Located in the Dallas area at Grandscape in The Colony, WorldSprings is a brand new 10-acre outdoor social-wellness destination designed to help guests of all ages recharge, reconnect and improve their wellbeing.
The property is home to 46 pools, ranging in temperature from 55°F (12.7°C) cold plunge pools to 104°F (40°C) bodies of water.
Utah: Mystic Hot Springs
One of Utah’s thermal pools, Mystic Hot Springs is easily accessible off highway I-70, in the small town of Monroe in Central Utah. This place is family-friendly. Alcohol, smoking, and any illegal activities are prohibited. Furthermore no nudity allowed so you won’t have to deal with unexpected surprises.
The hot mineral water emerges from the spring at 168 °F (76 °C). The water flows into two smaller pools with temperatures between 92 and 102 °F (33 and 39 °C).
A 2-hour soaking pass costs $25 per adult and $12.50 per child 12 and under. There are 15 cabins at different stages of restoration to stay in as well as several converted hippie buses.
Virginia: Warm Springs at The Omni Homestead Resort
Tucked away in a town called Hot Springs, the Omni Homestead Resort in Virginia is a historic accommodation that has attracted visitors from near and far for centuries.
The resort features the renowned Jefferson Pools, named after Thomas Jefferson, who visited in 1818.
There are coed bathing times, where families with kids may use either the men's or women's (larger of the two) pools. Later in the day the schedule switches to adults-only, and this is also a clothing-optional time, where the sexes are segregated to their respective bath houses.
Dance lessons, arts and crafts, engaging kids' activities, and movies ensure endless entertainment for the little ones. Thrill-seekers can partake in skeet/trap shooting, embark on guided hiking expeditions, try their hand at archery, or even take ski lessons during the winter months.
Washington: Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort
If you aren’t up for the hike to Olympic, then Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort nearby might be for you. The springs offer three Mineral Hot Spring soaking pools and one Freshwater Pool. If not staying at Olympic National Park, try out Lake Quinault Lodge or Olympic Lodge.
The springs range from 50 to 104 F and two are wheel chair accessible.
Wisconsin: Mt. Olympus
Mt. Olympus is a large water park with both indoor and outdoor areas in the Wisconsin Dells in Wisconsin. This park features two hot spring-like pools, the Divine Warming Pool and the Fire Pool. The Divine Warming pool is open to ages 11 and up, has warm, soothing water, and is surrounded by calm music.
Wyoming: TePee Pools
Hellie’s TePee Pools offers all natural hot water containing 27 minerals. Attractions indoors include hot tub, slide, sauna, and stream room. Outside are 3 hot tubs, mega – slide, basketball hoop, and a large grassy area and covered gazebo; both perfect spots for picnics. Coupled with cooler large pools and tanning lounges all around the deck, TePee Pools is a perfect place to spend all day soaking your cares away.
Lockers are available for a small fee
The newly opened Tipi Grill offers hamburgers, hot dogs, hand dipped corn dogs, and funnel cakes.
Their gift shop includes bathing suits and inflatables in case you forgot yours.
Legend Rock Petroglyph Site: This protected site approximately 23 miles west of Thermopolis contains at least 283 different petroglyphs on 92 individual sandstone “panels.”
