Best Hot Springs Near Iguazu Falls
The thundering roar of Iguazu Falls—spanning the border between Argentina and Brazil—is one of the most powerful displays of raw nature on the planet. The raw power is both energizing and scary at the same time.
What I was surprised to learn is that the Iguazu region sits atop the Guarani Aquifer, one of the largest underground freshwater reservoirs in the world. This geological wonder provides a seemingly endless supply of mineral-rich, naturally heated water that surfaces in a series of world-class thermal resorts and hidden jungle retreats.
If you have the time, we highly recommend a road trip starting at Iguazu Falls and heading south along Route 14 in Argentina. You can hit Termas de la Selva in Oberá on day one, continue to Chajarí and Federación, and cross into Uruguay to visit Salto Grande. It is one of the most concentrated "hot spring journeys" available anywhere in the world.
While Iguazu is a year-round destination, the hot springs are most enjoyable during the Austral Winter (June to August).
The water from the Guarani Aquifer is famously high in bicarbonates, sodium, and calcium. While excellent for the skin, it can be dehydrating. Always drink twice the amount of fresh water as you would during a normal day.
1. Mabu Thermas Grand Resort
While technically a resort, Mabu Thermas Grand Resort is the premier destination for thermal enthusiasts who want to stay as close to the falls as possible. The resort sits directly atop the Guarani Aquifer, and its complex of pools is fed by naturally heated water that emerges at a consistent 97 degrees Fahrenheit.
The resort is located 12 km away from the Iguaçu Falls, one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and from the International Airport of Foz do Iguaçu.
It is the first resort in Brazil to attain sustainability certification, in compliance with the NBR 15401 standard of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT).
The water is renewed every 4 hours and crystal clear water comes bubbling up through the ground to feed the pools and beach at the resort. I love that they created a beach to enjoy while at the pool and spas.
Note this is a very family friendly resort. Even during low season the hotel is 80% families with small children. They even offer babysitting services so this must be a haven for parents. You will need your white noise machine!
As an added attraction, the famous characters from the Brazilian children’s story Sitio do Picapau Amarelo, by Monteiro Lobato, and the entire recreation team put on a show for guests of all ages, with daily performances from 8:30 am to 10:30pm.

While in Obera enjoy the Parque de las Naciones where there are buildings celebrating German, Arabian, Brazilian, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Nordic (Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish), Paraguayan, Polish, Russian, Swiss and Ukrainian.
I personally loved Obera’s Garden of the birds, where there are more than 200 species of birds. It’s abeautiful place to enjoy nature and only a couple of dollars, but as of 2026 there are very few birds left.

7. Termas de Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña
In the heart of the province of Chaco, in the city of Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña, is this thermal complex, small but very well maintained and with a modern infrastructure.
Deep in the Chaco region, several hours west of Iguazu, these thermal baths are famous for their medicinal properties. It is less of a "water park" and more of a clinical health spa.
Stay nearby in a cute wooden casita - Casa Quinta con Pileta. Enjoy the quiet of your own place with kitchen and private pool.
The thermal complex has 20 individual boxes for immersion bath, a swimming pool with thermal water and another heated interior, two sauna bath cabins and two Turkish bath cabins.
The waters of Sáenz Peña are rich in minerals such as iron, chloride, bicarbonates, calcium, and magnesium.
The hot springs of the Mula Baths are especially suitable for general relaxation, all kinds of diseases of the bones, the skin and for some kidney treatments.
The float tank is full with 600 liters of water and 350 kilos of Epsom salts causing the same sensation as bathing in the Dead Sea, providing a deep state of relaxation both physical and mental.
